Gunman Escapes After Fatal Shooting at Mount Vernon Cannabis Store

Mount Vernon, New York – Tragedy struck a Mount Vernon cannabis store when two men were fatally shot during a failed robbery attempt, according to authorities on Wednesday. The incident, which occurred on S. Fifth Ave around 12:15 a.m. on Tuesday, left one victim dead at the scene while the other succumbed to their injuries shortly after at Montefiore Mount Vernon Hospital.

Speculations suggest that one of the victims may have been an employee at the cannabis shop, while the other individual was potentially involved in the attempted robbery alongside the assailant who managed to escape the crime scene. The identities of the deceased have not been disclosed at this time.

Law enforcement efforts to apprehend the suspect have been joined by the NYPD and FBI, with the man believed to have fled into the Bronx, mere blocks away from where the shooting took place. The suspect, possibly known as “Marcos,” reportedly abandoned his vehicle in the Belmont area of the Bronx before fleeing on foot.
