Gunman Identified in Tragic Murder-Suicide Outside Chase Bank: Michael Andres Pineda Lozano

Miami, Florida – A tragic incident unfolded outside a Chase Bank in West Kendall when a woman and her 4-year-old son were shot and killed by the woman’s ex-boyfriend before he turned the gun on himself.

The gunman was identified as 41-year-old Michael Andres Pineda Lozano by Miami-Dade Police. The woman, Odalys Bancroft, 43, and her young son, Theodore Couto, 4, were in a minivan at the bank’s ATM when Lozano, in an SUV, opened fire, resulting in the tragic deaths.

Family members described Bancroft as a kind-hearted individual who held the position of regulatory affairs director at Jackson Health System. Her son, Teddy, as he was affectionately known, had recently graduated from PreK-4 and was set to turn five the following month.

The violent act was captured on video by a witness at the scene, sparking shock and disbelief among those who knew Bancroft and her son. The footage was obtained by NBC6, but the actual shooting was not shown out of respect for the victims.

Authorities stated that there had been concerns regarding Lozano, but nothing indicated the extreme violence that unfolded outside the bank. Bancroft’s brother, Michael Trujillo, mentioned that while the couple was going through a breakup, there were no signs of impending danger.

The community has come together to support the family during this difficult time, with a GoFundMe page set up to assist Bancroft and Theodore’s relatives. The heartbreaking incident serves as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of domestic violence and its impact on families and loved ones.
