Hamas Sexual Assault Crimes During 7th October Attacks Revealed: Report by Israeli Rape Crisis Centers

JERUSALEM, Israel – The Association of Rape Crisis Centers in Israel has released a report detailing evidence of systematic and intentional sexual crimes committed by Hamas gunmen during the attacks that took place on 7 October. The report includes accounts of violent rapes of women conducted collectively or in front of an audience.

Hamas has denied the accusations, stating that its gunmen did not sexually assault women during the attacks. However, hundreds from the Palestinian armed group infiltrated southern Israel on 7 October, resulting in approximately 1,200 deaths and 253 people taken hostage.

The Israeli military responded with a campaign in Gaza, leading to the deaths of 29,300 people, according to the Hamas-run health ministry. Reports of sexual violence by Hamas members emerged soon after the attacks and continue to accumulate.

The Association of Rape Crisis Centers in Israel gathered information from forensic investigations, witness statements, and first responders, finding clear evidence of sexual crimes large enough to define it as a crime against humanity. The report details brutal acts of violent rape, often involving threats with weapons, directed towards injured women during the 7 October attacks.

The report emphasizes that the attacks displayed identical patterns of action repeated in each zone, including the Nova festival, homes in kibbutzim and villages near the Gaza border, and Israeli military bases. It further warns that released hostages have suggested ongoing abuse in captivity, an allegation that Hamas has denied. The ACCRI submitted its findings to the UN Special Representative on Sexual Violence in Conflict, Pramila Patten.

Israel has voiced complaints about the slow international response to the allegations, with the ACCRI’s executive director asserting that their report leaves no room for denial or disregard. Independent UN experts also expressed concern about reports of violence against Palestinian women and girls, with Israel rejecting the allegations as “despicable and unfounded.”

The situation continues to develop as investigations into the allegations progress, with international organizations and representatives involved in addressing the serious and harrowing accusations.
