LAKEWOOD, Calif. — A community is reeling after a tragic incident that claimed the lives of a woman and her teenage daughter in what authorities have described as a murder-suicide. A candlelight vigil was held to honor 17-year-old Sienna “Lilly” Alfaro, a beloved player with the Beach Futbol Club, the day after the horrific event.
Described as a vibrant young athlete, Lilly was remembered fondly by teammates and friends. “She was a ray of sunshine,” said Hazel Ferman, one of her teammates, adding that Lilly’s infectious smile could light up any room. The outpouring of love during the vigil showcased the profound impact she had on those around her.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department responded to the crisis around 7:55 a.m. Thursday in Lakewood. Officers arrived at a residence on Lorelei Avenue after receiving a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, they encountered a distraught 19-year-old woman who claimed her father had assaulted her. Authorities later discovered three deceased individuals inside the home.
Inside, deputies found 52-year-old Hector Lionel Alfaro and his wife, 48-year-old Roxana Rodriguez, both dead from gunshot wounds. Lilly was also found suffering from her injuries. According to reports, Hector had initially shot at his eldest daughter, who narrowly escaped injury. Following that, he turned the weapon on himself after attempting to harm her.
