Tongaat, South Africa — A woman suffered severe injuries after a shocking knife attack Saturday night, prompting her boyfriend to rush her to a clinic using a shopping trolley for transport.
The incident unfolded just before 8:30 p.m. on Gopalall Hurbans Road when a distressed man flagged down a patrol officer from Reaction Unit South Africa. According to the officer, the suspect had assaulted the woman, causing critical wounds to her abdomen. The boyfriend explained that a lone attacker had disemboweled her during the violent encounter.
Prem Balram, a spokesperson for Reaction Unit South Africa, relayed that the woman was in dire condition and feared for her life due to the nature of her injuries. As officers accompanied her boyfriend back to the scene, Officer Jordon Tarr spotted the assailant nearby. The suspect, armed with a knife, was quickly subdued and taken into custody.
It was later revealed that the suspect had a criminal background, having previously been convicted of murder and currently on parole. Witnesses reported that the assailant approached the woman, allegedly soliciting sexual favors, and became violent when she refused.
Following the confrontation, Officer Tarr shifted his focus to locating the injured woman, who had already been transported away from the initial scene. He eventually found her in critical condition just outside a nearby clinic, where she was being treated for her life-threatening wounds.
