High School Students’ Murder: Man Accused

PHOENIX, AZ – Authorities have arrested a Chandler man in connection with the fatal shooting of two teenagers during a camping trip. Thomas Brown, 31, faces charges of first-degree murder in the deaths of Pandora Julsrud and Evan Clark, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives said DNA evidence played a crucial role in identifying Brown as the suspect. His DNA was discovered on a pair of bloody gloves found inside the teens’ vehicle. Brown initially approached the sheriff’s office, claiming he had video footage from the weekend of the incident, which occurred on Mount Ord.

The investigation revealed that Brown had made social media posts about camping on the mountain during the same timeframe as the murders. Despite initially providing assistance, his actions and statements raised suspicions among detectives.

Five witnesses from the camping area reported encountering Brown that weekend. They described his behavior as unusual and identified him to authorities, bolstering the case against him.

Pandora Julsrud’s mother, Simone, expressed her grief and determination to see justice served. She had contacted police after losing communication with her daughter on May 25, a day that marked the last known contact with Pandora.

The sheriff’s office noted that Brown attempted to mislead investigators with false information. He mentioned using a drone on the mountain, a detail that led detectives to scrutinize his involvement further.

Brown, a former military member and self-employed in the 3D printing industry, is married. Authorities have not disclosed whether his wife, who was reportedly with him during part of the camping trip, is cooperating with the investigation.

Captain Lee from the sheriff’s office stated that details are being withheld to protect the integrity of the ongoing case as it heads to trial. Brown is currently in custody, with no bail set.

The community remains in shock over the random attack that claimed the lives of two young individuals. The investigation continues, with authorities urging anyone with additional information to come forward.
