The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office disclosed that one of the suspects, a Hispanic male captured on the home’s surveillance footage, was apprehended in Shreveport, Louisiana. The apprehension followed a distressing events that began on Friday when the suspects, posing as workers from DTE Energy, gained entry to the couple’s home on Newcastle Drive under the guise of checking a gas leak.
Sheriff Mike Bouchard revealed that after the suspects were granted access, they escorted the male homeowner to the basement. His wife, left upstairs, would not see her husband alive again. Shortly afterwards, the suspects bound her with duct tape, ransacked the residence for about 20 minutes, and fled the scene, leaving behind a devastating scenario.
The sheriff noted that the woman initially believed her husband had been kidnapped. However, he was later found deceased in the basement.
