“Houston Woman Charged with Murder After Fatal Parking Lot Stabbing of Boyfriend with Screwdriver”

HOUSTON — A woman is facing murder charges after allegedly stabbing her boyfriend in the face with a screwdriver during a heated argument in a parking lot shortly after Christmas 2025. Authorities say that Jayla Brown, 22, severely injured Keylan Foreman, 24, in an incident that escalated from a domestic dispute.

The confrontation occurred on December 27 at the intersection of Lockwood Drive and Laura Koppe Road. Prosecutors allege Brown attacked Foreman with the tool in a fit of rage, resulting in critical injuries that eventually led to his death weeks later.

According to court records, police responded to a Chevron station after receiving reports of a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers discovered Foreman unconscious and bleeding from serious lacerations to his face. He was immediately transported to Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital, where medical staff noted brain swelling alongside facial injuries stemming from the attack.

Initially, Brown provided a misleading account of the events, claiming she simply came upon the scene after hearing an argument and helped Foreman into her vehicle for transportation to the hospital. However, her story shifted significantly during follow-up questioning by detectives the next day. Brown admitted that she and Foreman had experienced an on-again, off-again relationship and that the argument took place inside her SUV.

In her revised statement, she claimed that Foreman had struck her first during the argument, prompting her to retaliate with the screwdriver she was holding. According to her, she “blacked out” momentarily, only to realize later that Foreman was gravely injured.

Surveillance footage from a nearby store captured a portion of the confrontation, showing several individuals gathered around Foreman just before the attack. The video reportedly depicts Brown lunging at Foreman and hitting him, causing him to stumble and fall to the ground. Detectives noted that while the distance limited visibility, it appeared Brown was holding an object consistent with a screwdriver as she moved away from the scene.

Foreman, who could not provide a statement to investigators due to his critical condition, later succumbed to his injuries on January 19, 2026. A medical examination revealed significant trauma, including a skull fracture that correlated with the type of injury classified in the murder charge. Reports indicated that the screwscrewdriver had perforated his nasal cavity, reinforcing the prosecution’s case against Brown.

Harris County authorities filed the murder charge on January 29, shortly after the examination results were processed. The case is currently in the 337th District Court, and Brown remains in custody. Her bond has been set at $150,000, with a court appearance scheduled for this week.

As the case progresses, the community is reminded of the escalating violence in domestic disputes and the tragic consequences that can follow.
