Loranger, Louisiana – Authorities in Louisiana are investigating a disturbing case involving the abduction and tragic death of a four-year-old girl named Erin Burnett. The young girl’s body was found in Mississippi, leading investigators to uncover evidence of possible human trafficking in the area where she was discovered. Two suspects, Daniel Callihan, 36, and Victoria Cox, 32, have been arrested in connection with Erin’s death.
Erin’s mother, 35-year-old Callie Burnett, was also found murdered in her home in Loranger. Callie had been reported missing after no one had been able to contact her for several days. Following the discovery of her mother’s body, an Amber alert was issued for Erin and her six-year-old sister.
Tragically, Erin was found deceased in a wooded area in Mississippi, while her older sister was discovered alive but injured nearby. She was promptly taken to a hospital in Jackson for medical attention. Both Callihan and Cox have been arrested on charges of capital murder and sexual battery, with the potential for the death penalty if convicted.
During a press conference, Callihan reportedly confessed to the murder of Erin Burnett, stating, “I did it.” He also mentioned struggling with mental health issues and being on medication, expressing a willingness to accept the consequences for his actions. This heartbreaking case sheds light on the prevalence of violence against women in Louisiana, a state with one of the highest rates of homicides involving females in the country.
