IMO STATE, NIGERIA – A tragic explosion in the forest of Obitti, Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State has resulted in multiple fatalities, with many individuals reportedly burnt beyond recognition. The incident, suspected to be linked to oil bunkering, took place at the Ndorama Pipeline in the Obitti Rubber Estate.

According to eyewitnesses, the explosion occurred when vandals attempted to tap and siphon oil from the pipeline using a tanker concealed within the forest.
