Infant’s 30 Fractures Lead to Parents’ Arrest

LITHIA SPRINGS, GA – A disturbing case of alleged child abuse has surfaced, leading to the arrest of two parents after their infant daughter was discovered with severe injuries. William Isaac Dakota King and Amber Marie Rivera face multiple charges in connection to the abuse of their five-month-old daughter.

During an extended court session in Douglas County, the judge denied bail to the parents, who appeared solemn as family members left the courthouse without commenting.

The infant, born prematurely at just 24 weeks, was found with fractures throughout her body, including her ribs, legs, arms, and wrists. A doctor testified that these types of injuries are rarely seen outside of abuse cases.

Dr. Hugo Skornik, a Rockdale County pediatrician, highlighted the importance of doctors as mandated reporters in child abuse situations, noting that discrepancies between caregiver stories and medical findings are common.

Investigators reported that the parents attempted to mislead authorities by attributing the injuries to an unreported car accident. They also allegedly sought support for their story, which was not provided.

The couple is further accused of failing to adequately feed their daughter. Dr. Skornik emphasized the necessity of basic parenting skills, including proper nutrition and care, while advising against harmful actions like shaking an infant.

The child is now in state custody, with her current condition undisclosed. This case brings attention to the broader issue of child abuse, a persistent problem affecting numerous families nationwide.
