During the trial, evidence presented to the jury included a suitcase in which Gardner admitted to placing Nevaeh before abandoning her in the woods of Mississippi in 2021. Defense attorney Margaret Lagattuta argued that Gardner’s actions were influenced by a desire to protect his family, including their unborn child.
