Kent Man Sentenced to 18 Years for Brutal Assault on Two Young Girls

Deal, England — A 42-year-old man has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for sexually assaulting two teenage girls, ages 13 and 14, in a disturbing incident that shook the local community. Steven Biggs was found guilty of multiple sexual offenses, including three counts of rape, following a trial at Canterbury Crown Court.

The assaults occurred in the early morning hours of August 4, 2020, when the two victims approached Biggs, who was outside his home in Freemans Way. The girls requested a cigarette, and Biggs invited them inside. It was there that he coerced one of the girls into a bedroom and proceeded to commit the heinous acts. The second girl, who waited outside, was also drawn back into the house against her will.

Following the attacks, one of the victims confided in a family member, prompting them to report the incident to the police on September 3, 2020. An investigation was launched, leading to Biggs’s arrest on November 29. Law enforcement charged him with ten sexual offenses connected to the case, and he opted not to testify during the trial.

The jury deliberated for a brief period before reaching a unanimous verdict on September 24, convicting Biggs of all charges. In addition to his prison sentence, he faces lifelong registration requirements as a sex offender and is subject to stringent conditions outlined in a 25-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

Detective Constable Linda Gavin spoke out about the case, emphasizing the profound impact of Biggs’s actions on the victims. “This was a deeply disturbing crime involving the violent abuse of two young girls,” she said. Gavin praised the courage of the victims for coming forward, highlighting their critical role in achieving justice.

The case has raised broader concerns about the safety of young individuals in the community and the need for continued support services for victims of sexual violence. Organizations like Rape Crisis England and Wales offer resources for anyone affected by similar circumstances, providing help through dedicated helplines and online support.

As Biggs begins his prison term, the hope is that the victims may find some solace in his conviction and the accountability he faces for his actions. The case serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing challenges in addressing sexual violence and protecting vulnerable populations.
