Detectives in Queensland, Australia confirmed that a 43-year-old woman was abducted from her home in Doolandella on Friday. The victim was then taken to a property in Forest Lake where she was assaulted and placed in a vehicle. Queensland Police Acting Inspector Michael Hogan stated that during the incident, a firearm was discharged into the vehicle, though no one was injured.
Following a tip-off from a member of the public, officers were able to make arrests at an address in Stafford Heights. Four men were taken into custody, with two later being released. Two of the men, aged 18 and 20, were charged with kidnapping, extortion, torture, armed robbery, dangerous conduct with a weapon, entering a dwelling with intent while armed, and other offenses.
Although the woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries and has been released from the hospital, Acting Inspector Hogan expressed that she has been significantly shaken and traumatized by the events. Authorities are seeking further information from two additional men in relation to the incident.
It has been clarified that the victim did not know her alleged attackers, and there is no indication at this time that the incident is gang-related. Crime scenes were established at three properties, and a vehicle was seized for forensic examination as the investigation remains ongoing.
Investigators have called on the public for information regarding the incident, and anyone with relevant footage or details has been asked to come forward. The police have assured the community that there is no wider threat posed by the incident.
