Montgomery, Alabama – Alexandria Hancock, the final defendant in a brutal attack that occurred in 2017, has been handed her sentence. Montgomery County District Attorney Daryl Bailey announced that Hancock, aged 33, has been sentenced to three consecutive life sentences following her conviction in May for first-degree kidnapping, first-degree rape, and first-degree robbery by a jury. The sentence was delivered by Circuit Judge Jimmy Pool and was made harsher due to the use of a firearm during the crime.
Bailey revealed that Hancock orchestrated a sexual assault on a Montgomery woman she had an altercation with previously. Alongside three male co-defendants, they lured the victim into a car under false pretenses and proceeded to rape and sodomize her at gunpoint while driving away from her home. The victim testified that she was subjected to multiple assaults by the men while Hancock watched from the front passenger seat before being taken to a remote location where she was bound, beaten, shot at, and left for dead.
Despite claiming to be an innocent bystander who was as scared as the victim, Hancock’s actions were condemned by Bailey as he described her behavior as “purely evil.” He emphasized that the psychological and emotional trauma inflicted on the victim cannot be undone, and he hopes the sentence will provide some semblance of peace. He further expressed his commitment to ensuring that violent crimes are prosecuted and that those responsible are held accountable, as evident by the severe sentences received by Hancock and her co-defendants.
Prior to Hancock’s trial, two of her co-defendants had already pleaded guilty and received 20-year prison terms each. The third co-defendant was tried separately, found guilty, and is currently serving three consecutive 99-year life sentences. Bailey concluded by reiterating the dedication of his team in delivering justice and upholding the law in Montgomery County, emphasizing the consequences awaiting individuals who commit violent crimes within the jurisdiction.
