LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. — A man is in custody after a shooting at his home left two women dead and a man injured, sparking a double homicide investigation in the community. Authorities have identified the deceased as 29-year-old Ana Gutierrez-Cedano and her mother, 61-year-old Dominga Cedano-Cedano.
Police responded to emergency calls just before 5 p.m. at a residence on Oak Hollow Drive in West Hempfield Township. Upon arrival, officers discovered a man with a gunshot wound to the abdomen near the entrance of the home.
According to investigators, Santiago Payano-Sanchez, 63, is the primary suspect in the incident. Family members reported that he had shot the three individuals inside the home, where two minors were also present. As officers entered the residence, they found Gutierrez-Cedano already deceased from a gunshot wound.
Law enforcement officials stated that Payano-Sanchez attempted self-harm before surrendering to police and was subsequently transported for medical care. Authorities later located Dominga Cedano-Cedano in a second-floor bedroom, also fatally wounded.
During their investigation, police interviewed other relatives who revealed that Payano-Sanchez had confessed to the shooting in a phone call earlier that day, expressing remorse for his actions. In light of the evidence and testimonies, he faces multiple charges, including two counts of criminal homicide, one count of attempted homicide, aggravated assault, and endangering the welfare of children.
The community is grappling with the tragic event, and local officials are urging anyone affected by the violence to seek support. The investigation remains ongoing, with police continuing to gather evidence and interview witnesses.
