LAS VEGAS, NV – A man wanted in connection with the murder of his girlfriend nearly two years ago in Las Vegas was apprehended by federal authorities in Mexico on Tuesday. The arrest brings closure to a case that has haunted the community since April 2023, when 26-year-old Tabatha Tozzi was found dead from a gunshot wound to the head.
The incident occurred outside a residence in the west valley area near Alta Drive and Cimarron Road. According to law enforcement, Tozzi’s boyfriend, Oswaldo “Nate” Perez-Sanchez, is believed to have confronted her during a heated argument. The altercation tragically escalated, resulting in Tozzi being fatally shot.
Following the shooting, Perez-Sanchez reportedly hijacked a vehicle from a witness at the scene and fled. His whereabouts remained unknown until his recent capture, which was the result of combined efforts by local and federal agencies.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department had been working closely with the FBI in the investigation. Authorities had previously expressed confidence that Perez-Sanchez had fled to Mexico, prompting an international search.
Federal officials have not disclosed specific details about how Perez-Sanchez was located and apprehended, but they have confirmed that he will face extradition to the United States to stand trial for murder charges.
The arrest has brought a sense of relief to Tozzi’s family and friends, who have been seeking justice for her untimely death. They described her as a beloved daughter and friend with a bright future ahead of her.
Community members have expressed their gratitude to law enforcement for their persistence in pursuing the case and ensuring that Perez-Sanchez will be held accountable for his alleged actions.
The case highlights the challenges of international law enforcement collaboration and the lengths to which authorities must go to bring fugitives to justice.
As the legal process unfolds, the focus will remain on ensuring a fair trial and delivering justice for Tabatha Tozzi and her family.
