BUENOS AIRES, Argentina — Liam Payne, the former One Direction star, tragically lost his life due to multiple traumas and internal and external bleeding, according to a preliminary autopsy report from the Argentinian Public Prosecutor’s Office. The singer, aged 31, died following a fall from a balcony of his hotel room on the third floor in Buenos Aires, where he had been staying.
The incident prompt investigations which revealed that Payne had suffered head injuries so severe they alone could have resulted in death. At the scene, his fall was estimated to be between 13 to 14 meters or approximately 42 to 45 feet, according to local emergency services.
Director of Buenos Aires Emergency Medical Services, Alberto Crescenti, indicated that upon their arrival, there was no opportunity to save Payne, who was pronounced dead at the site. The emergency team was dispatched quickly arriving at the scene within seven minutes of the call.
Forensic examinations found 25 injuries all linked to the fatal fall, with no signs of a struggle or foul play. The report detailed that Payne was alone in the room at the time of the incident, amidst indications from the hotel staff of erratic behavior prior to his tragic death.
State police reiterated these findings and mentioned that additional examinations, including biochemical and toxicological tests, are pending to further clarify the circumstances leading to the singer’s demise.
