Todd Allison, 35, from Old Kenton Lane, was convicted at Reading Crown Court following his earlier guilty plea to multiple charges, including non-fatal strangulation, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and criminal damage.

The incident, which took place on December 4 last year, began to unfold during the early hours after Allison and the victim, a woman in her 30s, spent six hours at the racecourse event. According to authorities, Allison’s aggression included verbal assaults and physical attacks such as strangling, punching, and head-butting the victim. Despite several attempts to exit the situation, the woman endured significant injuries including a fractured nose and severe bruising around her eyes.

The sequence of events leading to Allison’s arrest began when a concerned passersby noticed the distressing scene in the car. After inquiring about the woman’s welfare, the individual promptly contacted emergency services, which resulted in police intervention.

Allison was detained by law enforcement the following day, setting the stage for his subsequent trial and conviction. Detective Constable Freya Deeley of the Thames Valley Police praised the member of the public whose alertness and quick action helped rescue the victim from further harm.

DC Deeley also commended the resolve and fortitude of the victim throughout the investigation and legal process. “The courage displayed by the victim in such traumatic circumstances is noteworthy, and we hope that the conclusion of this case brings some measure of solace and closure to her,” Deeley stated.

This conviction not only serves as a punitive measure but also as an affirmation of law enforcement’s commitment to protecting vulnerable individuals and upholding justice in cases of domestic violence.
