Love Gone Awry: Man Accused of Stabbing Ex-Partner’s Father in Brutal Attack After Heated Argument

London, England — A 34-year-old man is facing murder charges after allegedly attacking the father of his former partner with a knife in a violent incident following a heated argument. Kamar Williams is accused of stabbing 55-year-old Derek Thomas, a bus driver, multiple times while Mr. Thomas was returning home from work.

The prosecution, led by Anthony Orchard KC, detailed the tragic events of July 30 during the trial at the Old Bailey. According to the prosecution, Williams had been searching for his ex-girlfriend, Carron Thomas, but was unable to locate her. Tensions escalated through a series of abusive messages exchanged between the two after their breakup, which suggested a significant emotional fallout.

That evening, as Williams drove near the Thomas family’s residence, he allegedly spotted Mr. Thomas walking with a shopping bag. Witnesses reported seeing Williams’s van halt abruptly in the middle of the road, after which he exited the vehicle and attacked Thomas before fleeing the scene. The attack reportedly left Thomas with five stab wounds from a large knife, and he was pronounced dead at the scene on Northwold Road less than 30 minutes later.

Orchard emphasized that the defendant’s frustration over his failed relationship appeared to fuel his violent actions. “He resorted to targeting Mr. Thomas, who was merely going about his day,” Orchard stated. The prosecution contends that the nature of the attack was particularly brutal, leaving Mr. Thomas in fear for his life.

After the incident, Williams reportedly attempted to evade capture for several weeks. His pursuit of a life free from consequences ended on August 26 when he was apprehended at the Notting Hill Carnival. He is also charged with possessing a knife unlawfully.

The trial is expected to last four weeks, with further testimony anticipated as the court examines the events leading up to the deadly assault. Williams has pleaded not guilty to the charges against him, asserting his innocence as the case unfolds.
