Maharashtra’s Cyber Chowk Tragedy: 72-Year-Old Driver Kills Three in Horrific Collision

Kolhapur, Maharashtra – A tragic incident unfolded on Monday in Kolhapur city, Maharashtra, when a car driven by a 72-year-old man collided with four bikes before crashing into a parked vehicle at Cyber Chowk. This horrific event resulted in the deaths of three individuals, including the elderly driver, while six others sustained injuries.

The devastating accident, captured on CCTV camera, shows the Hyundai Santro speeding through the intersection without any traffic lights, resulting in the collision with the bikers. The car was reportedly driven by Vasant M Chavan, the retired Pro Vice-Chancellor of Shivaji University Kolhapur.

CCTV footage shows the moment of impact, with the car colliding with the bikes, throwing riders and passengers several feet away. The car then crashed into a pole next to the footpath before hitting a stationary vehicle, ultimately flipping onto its right side. Bystanders can be seen rushing to aid the victims of the crash, with one man lifting a child from one of the bikes and assisting a woman riding pillion.

Authorities are currently investigating the incident, with the identities of the victims yet to be disclosed.
