DETROIT – Mario Green, 53, is in custody following a deadly incident that occurred at Henry Ford Hospital. Authorities arrested Green shortly before 3 a.m. on Lemay Street, located on Detroit’s east side. His capture was facilitated by a collaborative effort involving Detroit police, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Michigan State Police, the FBI, and other agencies.
Detroit Police Chief Todd Bettison praised the combined efforts of law enforcement and the community in locating Green. “Our officers worked tirelessly to get this monster off the street,” Bettison stated, expressing condolences to the victim’s family. “No one deserves what happened to Ms. Latricia Green.”
The tragic event took place around 10 a.m. on August 22, 2025, when Green allegedly shot his ex-wife, 40-year-old Latricia Green Brown, during a verbal confrontation in the hospital’s basement. Chief Bettison reported that security footage captured Green leaving the hospital shortly after the incident.
Green, described as 6 feet 4 inches tall and dressed in black with a distinctive gold chain, has a history of legal troubles. According to the Michigan Department of Corrections, he previously served time for arson and had entered into probation for an aggravated stalking charge.
In a development shortly after the shooting, authorities located the vehicle Green used to flee the scene, a white 2011 Dodge Charger, parked in Detroit. The car’s license plate number is DXC7067, with the “0” representing a numeral.
Latricia Green Brown was an employee at the hospital, though details surrounding her job remain unclear. The hospital was secured by law enforcement following the shooting, with SWAT teams dispatched to ensure no other individuals were injured.
