Joliet, Illinois – A man wanted for shooting nine people, eight of them fatally, across four separate crime scenes was found dead by Joliet police. Romeo Nance, 23, who resided in one of the homes where seven bodies were discovered, was located by US Marshals near Natalia, Texas. Authorities believe he took his own life following a confrontation with law enforcement officials in Texas.
The shooting spree left a total of eight people dead, with one victim initially surviving but later succumbing to injuries. Will County Deputy Sheriff Dan Jungles revealed that the violence began when a 28-year-old man named Toyosi Bakare was found with a gunshot wound and later died in the hospital. Police also indicated that another man was injured in a separate shooting connected to the same suspect.
After about 12 hours of surveillance, authorities entered Nance’s last known address where they found two more individuals fatally shot. It was later discovered that the second house, where five people were found dead, was inhabited by some of Nance’s relatives. Joliet Police Chief Bill Evans described it as the worst crime scene he has ever been associated with, expressing the horror of the situation.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact the Joliet Police Department. The motive behind the shootings and the relationship between the suspect and the victims is still under investigation. The community is reeling from the tragedy, as the shocking violence has left many unanswered questions and brought a sense of fear and apprehension.
