Miami, Florida — A brutal stabbing incident in southwest Miami-Dade County left three men injured and one in critical condition, leading to the arrest of a 48-year-old man following a chaotic escape. The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office apprehended Daniel López on Friday after he allegedly attacked the men over a missing wallet.
The violent clash unfolded early Thursday morning at a residence located on Southwest 16th Street and 93rd Court. Authorities reported that López became enraged after claiming his wallet had disappeared, believing the three men were responsible. Without hesitation, he confronted them with a knife, inflicting serious injuries, including a stab wound to one victim’s head.
Following the assault, López fled the scene. He was tracked down the next day, having attempted to evade capture by jumping from the third-floor balcony of a nearby apartment building. After his jump, he sought refuge in a nearby field and concealed himself under an abandoned boat. A police canine unit and a helicopter were deployed, ultimately leading to his apprehension.
López was processed at the Turner Guilford Correctional Center just after 8:00 PM on Friday. He now faces multiple charges, including three counts of second-degree attempted murder and one count of resisting arrest without violence. Upon his arrest, he allegedly proclaimed his innocence, claiming the victims were drug addicts and asserting that he was wrongfully accused.
Emergency responders transported the injured men—aged 31, 32, and 33—to local hospitals, with one in critical condition and the others reported stable. Security cameras in the vicinity captured unsettling footage of the moments before the attack, showing the men exiting a vehicle and approaching the home before two returned just moments later.
Residents in the neighborhood expressed heightened concern following the event, noting that the location has a history of disturbances and gatherings that often draw a police presence.
