London, England – The family of a young woman found stabbed to death in a luxurious home near Hyde Park is reeling from the tragedy, with police ramping up efforts to track down the killer.
Kamonnan Thiamphanit, known as Angela to her friends, was discovered by authorities inside a Grade II listed property in Bayswater around 8:30 am on Monday. Concerns about her well-being were raised by friends prior to the grim discovery.
The 27-year-old, who held dual Chinese and Hong Kong nationality, met a tragic end around the same time a neighbor reported hearing two “high-pitched screams.” A subsequent post-mortem examination determined that she died as a result of sharp force trauma, leading to the launch of a murder investigation.
The Metropolitan Police have initiated an independent inquiry into their handling of initial contact with a friend who reported Thiamphanit missing. Despite two calls made on Sunday evening, she was initially classified as a “medium risk” missing person until her body was located.
Reports suggest that Thiamphanit’s home, a terraced property dating back to the 1820s, may have been accessed by her killer through a video entry system. Formerly rented by the Ethiopian embassy, the residence is believed to have been converted into an Airbnb holiday let.
Neighbors described hearing screams on Sunday evening, with one longtime resident recalling the chilling sound echoing through the area. Detective Chief Inspector Adam Clifton, heading the murder investigation, expressed determination in seeking justice for Thiamphanit, urging anyone with information to come forward.
This incident adds to a string of recent homicides in London, with investigations ongoing into the deaths of two other women in separate incidents across the city. Authorities are working diligently to piece together the events surrounding Thiamphanit’s murder and ensure her killer is held accountable for the heinous crime.
