EAST LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA – Authorities are currently searching for the suspect responsible for the fatal shooting of a 22-year-old woman, Lexus Gutierrez, near an elementary school in East L.A. last weekend. The incident occurred as Gutierrez was seated in a vehicle with friends by Humphreys Avenue Elementary School around 11 a.m. on Sunday. Tragically, she was pronounced dead at the scene, while one of her friends was wounded in the hand and another escaped unharmed.
Lexus’ aunt, Patricia Ramirez, expressed her devastation, describing her niece as a kind and loving individual with a big heart. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau is actively investigating the shooting and has reported that a small, four-door sedan was observed fleeing the scene. The victim’s family is hoping that security footage from nearby cameras or possible witness accounts will help identify the perpetrator, stressing the importance of achieving justice for Gutierrez.
In response to the heartbreaking incident, a GoFundMe page has been established to support Gutierrez’s family, while a vigil is planned to take place at the location of the shooting.
