Manhunt underway for suspect in fatal west Harris County shooting

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – Authorities in Harris County are on the lookout for a suspect who fatally shot a man in a west Harris County neighborhood on a Saturday afternoon. The incident took place in a grassy alleyway near Clay and Greenhouse off Silverhawk Drive, just blocks away from the victim’s residence.

The victim, identified as 20-year-old Jyron Johnson, was shot multiple times by the suspect during what officials believe was a meeting between the two individuals. There are no indications that the transaction involved drugs. “We don’t know if they knew each other or if they were meeting for the first time,” said Sgt. Michael Ritchie of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

After being shot, Johnson attempted to flee towards his home, stopping at neighboring houses along the way, screaming for assistance. Surveillance footage captured at least 10 gunshots being fired, followed by the victim stumbling across a driveway with visible wounds on his hand and leg.

Moments later, Johnson screamed for help before collapsing a block away from his house. When authorities arrived at the scene, they found Johnson deceased, and the suspect, described as a male in his late teens or early 20s, had already left the area.

Johnson’s mother mentioned that he leaves behind two daughters and was expecting a son. Investigators are currently awaiting the medical examiner’s report to determine the exact number of times Johnson was shot.
