West Hartford, Conn. — The Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford has organized weekly marches to advocate for Israeli hostages taken by Hamas during the attacks on October 7, 2023. Following a violent incident at a similar event in Colorado just a week prior, attendees at the local march found augmented security measures in place.
Approximately 100 participants gathered to voice their support for the individuals still held captive, many carrying posters depicting the faces of those missing. Despite the added security, the marchers expressed a resolute determination to continue their efforts.
“I hadn’t been able to join the walk for a few months, but after what happened last week, I felt it was essential to be here. We have to stand up, speak out, and make our presence known,” said Nancy Morin, a resident of West Hartford.
U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal attended the march and underscored the significance of the event during his visit to the district. “These individuals are making a powerful statement through their presence, showing that they will not be silenced despite the threats of terrorism and violence,” he noted.
Participants in the march affirmed their commitment to the cause, declaring their intent to march in all weather conditions until every Israeli hostage is returned home.
