WHITE LAKE, MI – A tragic altercation involving a homeowner and a group of teenagers attempting a garage break-in in White Lake has left one teen dead and another injured.
After a security alert, the homeowner confronted the teens on Mandan Drive shortly after midnight. Seven shots were fired, leading to the death of a 17-year-old and injuries to another teen.
Five other teenagers fled the scene, leaving the neighborhood in shock. Initially, the gunfire was mistaken for fireworks by residents, who were unaware of the gravity of the situation.
Brandy, a neighbor, captured the audio of the incident, noting that the garage had been targeted multiple times within the past year.
Police have detained an 18-year-old and a minor and are actively seeking additional suspects while investigating the motives behind this attempted burglary.
