Harshkumar Patel, who is not related to the deceased family, is facing multiple charges in relation to the incident.
Following his arrest at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport, Patel was transferred to Minnesota, where he remains in custody. Reports indicate that Patel was allegedly responsible for coordinating a human smuggling operation with Shand, who operated on the American side of the border.
