Missouri Man Confesses to Killing His Father After Stabbing Him 50 Times, Faces Murder Charges

Manchester, MO — A Missouri man has been charged with first-degree murder after he reportedly confessed to authorities that he killed his father. Officials said the suspect, 41-year-old Jeffrey Goedde, walked into the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and admitted to the fatal stabbing of his 75-year-old father, Edward Goedde, in their family home.

During his confession late Wednesday morning, Jeffrey described the attack on his father, which allegedly involved using both a weapon and his hands, resulting in the elder Goedde being left unconscious and bleeding in the kitchen. The accused made a spontaneous declaration of guilt to the officers present, expressing regret over his actions and seeking to turn himself in.

Following Jeffrey’s confession, local law enforcement conducted a welfare check at the Goedde residence in the city of Manchester, where they discovered Edward Goedde’s body. According to police, he was found face down on the kitchen floor, showing multiple stab wounds along with signs of strangulation and blunt force trauma to his head.

The investigation quickly moved forward as detectives canvassed the crime scene, finding a kitchen knife in a trash can which they believe to be the murder weapon. The discovery added a grave piece of evidence linking the violent scene to the confession made by the son.

Further examination by medical professionals the next day confirmed the severe nature of the elder Goedde’s injuries, revealing approximately 50 stab wounds and other indications of a brutal assault such as broken bones and the aforementioned signs of strangulation and blunt trauma.

In discussing the decision to surrender to the Jefferson County authorities rather than the local Manchester police, Jefferson County Sheriff Dave Marshak relayed that Jeffrey Goedde trusted the countywide agency more extensively, which led to his voluntary confession at their office.

Currently held without bond, Jeffrey faces charges not only for first-degree murder but also armed criminal action. As the legal proceedings begin, the community remains shocked by the severity of the crime and the unexpected confession by the accused.

The case continues to develop as more details emerge from both the ongoing investigation and upcoming court proceedings, leaving a community grappling with the tragedy and seeking justice for Edward Goedde.
