HUNTSVILLE, AL – A 19-year-old man from Montgomery faces murder charges after the body of a missing 25-year-old was discovered in Madison County. Authorities recovered the remains of the victim, identified as Last Howard III, near Highway 20, close to the Limestone County line. Howard had been missing since mid-July.
Huntsville police have arrested Tylan James Haley in connection with the case. Officers traveled to Montgomery to interview him, which led to a coordinated search for Howard. Subsequently, a warrant for Haley’s arrest was issued.
The investigation began following a tip that directed authorities to central Alabama. Over the past few months, police conducted extensive searches in North Alabama, leading them to Montgomery. The anonymous tip became a crucial turning point in the case.
Howard’s family endured months of uncertainty. His mother reported him missing on July 19, after not hearing from him since July 10. She normally communicated with her son daily and became concerned when she lost contact. Howard lived in the Weston Ranch Apartments, located near the Madison-Huntsville line.
Authorities obtained warrants and subpoenas throughout the investigation, gathering critical information. The evidence collected suggests that Howard was a homicide victim, although an autopsy is necessary to determine the exact cause of death.
Haley’s extradition to Madison County is underway, but he has not yet been transferred to the local jail. The case remains under investigation as police continue to piece together the circumstances surrounding Howard’s death.
Howard’s family and the community are seeking justice and closure in this tragic case. The investigation’s progress has provided some answers, but questions linger about the events that led to his disappearance.
Officials urge anyone with further information to come forward as they work to resolve this case. The community remains hopeful for a resolution that honors Howard’s memory.
