On August 10, authorities discovered Sara’s body after her father, Urfan Sharif, unexpectedly contacted Surrey Police from Pakistan. A note beside her body, penned by Urfan, admitted to the fatal beating, although he claimed it was not his intention to kill her. The note starkly concluded with his intention to flee due to fear.
Sara’s demise was not an isolated incident; the court heard that she had suffered extensive physical abuse that included multiple bruises, burns, and broken bones. This abuse, prosecutors argue, could not have been perpetrated by one individual alone without the tacit support or direct involvement of the other adults in the household.
The trial involves Urfan Sharif, alongside Sara’s stepmother, Beinash Batool, 30, and her uncle, Faisal Malik, 29, all of whom have pleaded not guilty to the charges of murder and allowing the death of a child.
