New York, NY – Authorities are actively pursuing two suspects in connection with the tragic murder of 52-year-old Nadia Vitels in Manhattan. The investigation, led by the Joint Fugitive Task Force, has uncovered shocking details surrounding the case at hand.
Vitels, who had recently traveled from Spain to prepare her late mother’s vacant apartment for a family friend, was reportedly unaware that squatters had taken up residence in the residence. Surveillance footage captured her movements in and out of the apartment, signaling her unsuspecting encounter with the perpetrators.
Tragically, Vitels was found beaten to death and concealed in a duffel bag inside the apartment on the 19th floor, sparking a harrowing discovery by Superintendent Jean Pompee. The unsettling revelation was made after concerned family members, unable to reach Vitels, gained access to the scene on March 14.
Determined as a homicide, the medical examiner attributed Vitels’s death to blunt force trauma, shedding light on the violent nature of the crime. The suspects, identified as unknown individuals to Vitels, have since absconded, leaving behind a trail of stolen property and evasive maneuvers.
Following the murder, the suspects were caught on video fleeing with Vitels’s stolen vehicle, later involved in a collision in Pennsylvania. Despite subsequent attempts to purchase a new vehicle covertly, the suspects remain at large, evading authorities’ grasp.
As the investigation unfolds, family and friends mourn the loss of Vitels, remembering her as a vibrant and supportive individual. Her son, Michael Medvedev, expressed gratitude for her unwavering belief in him, reminiscing about cherished moments spent together.
In honor of her memory, loved ones reflect on Vitels’s adventurous spirit, selflessness, and unwavering dedication to those she cared for. The community remains shocked and saddened by the heartbreaking tragedy, as authorities continue to seek justice for the senseless loss of a beloved mother and friend.
