Frisco, Texas – Two individuals were arrested by the Frisco police on charges of capital murder in connection with a shooting incident that took place outside a Walmart store last year, resulting in the death of one individual and the injury of another.
Last fall, reports surfaced regarding the tragic events that unfolded outside a Walmart in Frisco, Texas. Army veteran Zachary Lowe, leaving his job at the store, was approached by a man who requested a cigarette before proceeding to demand money at gunpoint. Despite complying with the demands, Lowe was shot twice in the back, leaving him injured. Another victim, Dung Doan, a 62-year-old father, was shot multiple times and tragically did not survive the incident. The families of both victims believe the attack was a random act of violence.
Following the incident, Lowe underwent surgery to treat his injuries and survived, while Doan succumbed to his wounds at a hospital. Frisco police released a statement acknowledging the assistance provided by the public in identifying the suspects involved in the fatal shooting. The two suspects were identified as 42-year-old Jhirrell Harris and 37-year-old Stephanie Gayden from Monroe, Louisiana.
Harris was located in the Ouachita County Jail in Monroe, where he was being held on an unrelated charge. Frisco detectives visited the Louisiana jail to deliver documents charging Harris with capital murder, aggravated robbery, and aggravated assault. Harris remains in custody in Louisiana and will be extradited to Collin County. Gayden, also charged with capital murder, was arrested and is currently detained in the Collin County Jail on a $1 million bond.
Assistant Chief Darren Stevens of the Frisco Police Department expressed gratitude for the community’s support, highlighting the crucial role of a tip received through Tip411 in expediting the identification of the suspects. Both Harris and Gayden face serious charges, with capital murder convictions in Texas carrying severe penalties such as life imprisonment without parole or the death penalty.
As the investigation progresses, it remains unclear whether either of the suspects has legal representation. The diligent efforts of the Frisco police detectives, coupled with the cooperation of the public, have been instrumental in advancing the case and ensuring justice for the victims and their families.
