Murrieta, California — A woman is facing multiple felony charges in connection with the murder of her ex-boyfriend, allegedly orchestrated with the assistance of another suspect. Ignacia Cadaos Perkins, 40, was arrested last Thursday evening and is expected to be charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and murder for financial gain in the case involving 37-year-old Aaron Parr.
The incident occurred last month at Parr’s apartment in the Arbors at California Apartments. Authorities discovered his body on January 13, and the investigation quickly revealed signs of foul play, prompting homicide detectives to take over. Police Captain Jeremy Durrant confirmed that effective detective work led to the rapid identification of Perkins and her alleged accomplice, James Lawrence Petri, 43, who is currently being held in Alabama.
Petri, a resident of Birmingham, is awaiting extradition to California following his arrest by local authorities based on a warrant related to the same allegations against Perkins. Details regarding the relationship between Perkins and Petri, as well as the nature of their collaboration in the crime, remain unclear. However, it has been confirmed that Perkins and Parr had a romantic history, although the specifics of their relationship and its dissolution have not been disclosed.
Durrant commended the joint efforts of several law enforcement agencies, including the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department and the Birmingham Police Department, for their crucial roles in the investigation. He noted that detectives worked diligently, pursuing leads and gathering evidence essential to making the arrests.
The Riverside County District Attorney’s Office received the case for review earlier this week, and formal charges are anticipated to be filed soon. The situation raises troubling questions about motives behind the alleged conspiracy, particularly regarding the financial incentives that investigators suspect may have driven the crime.
As the investigation continues, community members are left in shock over the events that unfolded. The case emphasizes the importance of collaborative law enforcement efforts in addressing serious crimes and serving justice.
Perkins remains in custody at the Robert Presley Jail, while Petri’s pending extradition will bring him to face justice in California. The authorities are expected to hold a press conference to provide updates as the case develops and further insights emerge into this tragic incident.
