WEST VALLEY CITY, UT – In a dramatic turn of events, a West Valley City neighborhood recently became the scene of a harrowing rescue. A seven-year-old boy, bloodied and terrified, appeared at a neighbor’s doorstep seeking refuge from his mother’s violent outburst.
Residents quickly sprang into action. Debbie Allen, a local resident, was among the first to respond. She found the boy at her door, pleading for help, after he managed to escape his home. The young child alleged that his mother had assaulted him with a statue and attempted to drown him. Allen immediately called the police, while another neighbor assisted the boy, ensuring his safety until authorities arrived.
The situation took a bizarre turn when the boy’s mother, 35-year-old Patrice Gustafson, also known as Patrice Garcia, entered Allen’s home unclothed. Gustafson was promptly detained by the police. The boy, who suffered head injuries requiring medical attention, has since been released from the hospital.
Allen expressed her gratitude for the boy’s survival, emphasizing the neighborhood’s dedication to protecting children. She remarked on the frightening nature of the incident and her readiness to defend any child in distress.
Gustafson is now in jail, facing multiple charges, including aggravated child abuse, burglary, and disarming a police officer. Her arrest comes on the heels of a prior conviction for drug-related offenses and obstruction of justice earlier this year.
