Nightclub Violence in Nottingham: Four Men Jailed for Unprovoked Assault on Young Victim

Nottingham, England — Two men were sentenced to prison for their involvement in a brutal, unprovoked attack on a man outside a local nightclub. The violent incident occurred on May 5, 2025, when the victim, in his 20s, sustained severe head injuries after being assaulted by a group on St. James’s Street.

Jayden Gunter, 20, and Alfie Seagrave, 21, were identified by police following an investigation that included analyzing CCTV footage. Alongside them, Kiarne McLeary, 24, and Jaden Walters, 22, also face charges related to the incident, which were pleaded at Nottingham Crown Court on January 16. All four men admitted to committing grievous bodily harm without intent.

Gunter received a sentence of 16 months and two weeks. Seagrave, who also pleaded guilty to possession of a knife in a public area, was sentenced to two years and three months. McLeary and Walters will be sentenced at a later date, with Walters also acknowledging his charge of carrying a weapon unlawfully.

The attack followed an earlier altercation inside the nightclub, where the men had provoked the victim before pursuing him into the street. During the assault, Gunter was seen grabbing the victim, while Seagrave pulled him down. McLeary then climbed on him, with Walters kicking and both Gunter and Walters stamping on the victim’s head.

Emergency services transported the victim to a hospital, where he received stitches for a serious head wound. Detective Constable Michael Love from Nottinghamshire Police emphasized the department’s commitment to seeking justice for the victim. He condemned the violent behavior, stating that such actions have no place in the nightlife scene and will evoke a strong response from law enforcement.

While a knife was observed being exchanged between Walters and Seagrave, investigators clarified that it was not used during the attack. The case underscored the seriousness of carrying a weapon in public, with police collaborating closely with nightclub staff to ensure thorough investigative efforts led to the apprehension of the offenders.

This incident serves as a sobering reminder of the potential risks associated with nightlife, highlighting the urgent need for continued vigilance against violent behavior in such environments.
