Sunland Park, New Mexico – A tragic incident unfolded in Mesilla as Oscar Rene Sandoval allegedly signed over property deeds to his son just days before the fatal shooting of his partner. Ethan Sandoval, 19, revealed to Mesilla Marshals that his father transferred property documents shortly before reportedly taking the life of Shiereen Al-Jibury, 39, on Monday night.
Law enforcement reports indicate that Sandoval, driving a 2016 Ford Explorer, shot Al-Jibury in the chest as they traveled from Las Cruces to Mesilla. Subsequently, Al-Jibury fled the vehicle, with Sandoval in pursuit, firing four more shots that struck her in the back and leg. Tragically, despite the efforts of first responders, Al-Jibury succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
Sandoval, now a fugitive, is being actively pursued by law enforcement, who consider him armed and dangerous. He was last seen in Sunland Park, where his abandoned SUV and wallet were discovered. Inside the vehicle, authorities found Sandoval’s Texas driver’s license and credit cards along with Al-Jibury’s cellphone. The SUV’s location was pinpointed by the couple’s daughter using a tracking app on her mother’s phone.
Further investigation revealed that Sandoval operated Oasis Roofing in Canutillo. U.S. Border Patrol involvement on the night of the incident identified Al-Jibury as an Iraqi citizen, with court documents from New Mexico indicating a previous arrest in 2008. Home security footage captured Sandoval leaving the area in shorts and a dark hoodie.
In a heartfelt interview, Ethan Sandoval recalled the evening of the tragedy, expressing concern when his parents did not return home as usual. He mentioned that his father typically did not carry a gun and denied ever seeing one in the family vehicle. The harrowing events have left the community reeling, with authorities urging anyone with information on Sandoval’s whereabouts to come forward to ensure justice is served.
