MILWAUKEE, WI – A Wisconsin couple finds themselves at the center of a harrowing investigation, accused of plotting a series of poison attacks against two women. The suspects, Paul Van Dwine Jr. and Andrea Whitaker, allegedly conspired to use deadly chemicals like cyanide to execute their plan.
Authorities, dressed in protective gear, executed a search of their residence, uncovering evidence that ties the couple to the crime. One of the targets, a former acquaintance of Van Dwine, described her terror and the profound impact on her life during a court session.
The prosecution outlined how the couple allegedly began their scheme in April, contaminating a victim’s personal items and placing harmful substances in her vehicle. A subsequent incident involved a hazardous material that sickened a family member.
The investigation intensified in May when a victim was hospitalized with symptoms linked to the poison. This led to a search of digital communications, revealing connections between the victim and Van Dwine, whom she met online.
Expressing disbelief, the victim recounted how the suspects, whom she barely knew, allegedly plotted her demise. Van Dwine was arrested while allegedly spying on one of the victims, and Whitaker was later detained for allegedly destroying evidence.
