Investigators say two to three masked suspects fled on foot after the Friday afternoon attack near local schools and a daycare.
WHITE SETTLEMENT, Texas — A woman in her 30s died Friday after being shot multiple times inside a home on the 600 block of Meadow Park Drive, police said, prompting temporary lockdowns at nearby schools while officers searched the area for two to three suspects seen in dark clothing.
Authorities say the attack unfolded just after 3 p.m. Jan. 30, when multiple suspects forced entry through a south-side door of the residence and opened fire as they fled. The case has drawn urgent attention because investigators released still images of the suspects and noted the address matches the site of a separate shooting last summer. Police have not released the victim’s name. The suspects, described as late-teen or young-adult males, were last seen running west on Wyatt Drive and are believed to be out of the immediate area. Multiple agencies, including Fort Worth police units and K-9 teams from neighboring cities, assisted the response.
Police said officers arrived within minutes of the 3:03 p.m. call and found the victim with several gunshot wounds. Paramedics rushed her to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead. A neighbor’s camera recorded several shots and captured two figures in hooded sweatshirts sprinting from the house. “The suspects appear to have been wearing dark-colored clothing, black hooded sweatshirts, and black face coverings,” the department said in its statement. The footage also guided a block-by-block search along Wyatt Drive while officers secured the street near a daycare, Liberty Elementary and Brewer Middle School. Administrators placed buildings in secure status, limiting entry while classes continued, and lifted those measures later in the afternoon as officers cleared the area.
Detectives said initial witness accounts and images suggest two to three suspects, likely teens or young adults, coordinated the entry and escape. Investigators believe the group entered through a side door, and as they exited one turned back and pointed a handgun toward the woman while she remained just inside the threshold. The shooter fired multiple rounds before the trio ran. Police said they released still photographs to generate leads while they work to confirm the path the suspects took after Wyatt Drive. Officials added that the medical examiner will identify the victim after next-of-kin notifications. Police have not said whether the victim knew the assailants, what preceded the gunfire, or whether a vehicle was waiting nearby.
Records and prior reports show the same Meadow Park address was tied to a June 2025 shooting in which a 17-year-old girl was wounded during an illicit vape transaction; an arrest was made in that case after a suspect reportedly shot himself in the foot. Police emphasized the woman killed Friday is not the same person who was injured last summer and said it remains unknown whether the two incidents are connected beyond the location. The home sits on a residential block adjacent to schools and childcare centers in the small Tarrant County city west of Fort Worth, where officers often coordinate with school police during daytime responses.
Detectives are processing the scene, reviewing surveillance video from nearby homes and businesses, and tracing the route westbound on Wyatt Drive mentioned in the initial alert. White Settlement police said they are working active leads with assistance from Fort Worth’s Real-Time Crime Center and aviation unit, along with Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office crime scene personnel. No arrests had been announced as of Saturday. Officials said additional updates could come as soon as early next week depending on laboratory results and a review of new tips.
Neighbors described a sudden burst of shots and a chaotic few minutes on the block. One resident, who said he saw “two kids running from the house,” recalled a mother screaming for help as he rushed over before first responders arrived. Parents arriving for afternoon pickups encountered police tape and patrol cars while school safety officers controlled doors. Residents said they were unsettled to learn of a second shooting at the same address in less than a year but added that the street is usually quiet.
As of Sunday morning, investigators had not publicly identified the woman or announced suspects by name. Police said the case remains active, with additional patrols in the neighborhood and requests for video from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Friday. The next expected milestone is a formal identification by the medical examiner and any new investigative bulletins from police early this week.
