Detroit, Mich. — Three men are set to appear in court Wednesday for a preliminary hearing regarding the summer drive-by shooting that claimed the life of 6-year-old Rylee Love. The proceedings will take place at Detroit’s 36th District Court, where Judge Edward A. Redd will determine if there’s sufficient evidence for Demontrel Wilson, 30, Deonate Cherry, 28, and Terrance Blue, 28, to stand trial for the tragic incident.
The shooting occurred on July 27 around 9 p.m. in a residential area near Anglin Street and Stender Avenue. Police were alerted to the sound of gunfire and responded quickly to the 17400 block of Anglin Street. There, they found the young boy critically injured from a gunshot wound to the head while he was inside a home. Rylee was immediately transported to a local hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.
Authorities reported that the suspects allegedly fired multiple rounds from a vehicle, targeting a group of individuals near the intersection. Unfortunately, the gunfire struck the home where Rylee was playing, resulting in his untimely death.
