Dhaka, Bangladesh – Imon Khan Jibon, an official of a now-outlawed student organization at Dhaka University, has been detained by police amid allegations of violent clashes involving the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement on campus. Muhammad Talebur Rahman, Deputy Police Commissioner (Media) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, confirmed on Monday that the 28-year-old was arrested late Sunday in Narayanganj.
The violent incident, dating back to July 15, disruptively ended what had begun as a peaceful demonstration at Dhaka University.
