Plainville, Georgia — A suspect with an extensive criminal background was arrested Tuesday morning after a reported assault at a local residence. The Gordon County Sheriff’s Office received a call around 9:30 a.m. from a resident who claimed that a man armed with scissors had attacked her inside her home.
Authorities indicated that the victim, with assistance from another woman present, managed to fend off the intruder, who subsequently fled the scene. Investigators quickly identified the suspect as 65-year-old Dwight S. Hunter. They gathered information regarding his whereabouts, leading to his apprehension by Bartow County authorities near Adairsville.
Upon his arrest, Hunter was taken to the Gordon County Jail. He faces several serious charges, including Aggravated Assault, False Imprisonment, Battery/Elder Abuse, and three counts of Terroristic Threats. The latter charges relate to alleged threats he made against the victim’s family. Additionally, Hunter is reportedly facing a probation violation.
Hunter’s criminal history spans several decades, dating back to the 1970s. He has been incarcerated multiple times throughout his life in Georgia’s prison system. At the time of his latest arrest, he was on probation for previous convictions that included Aggravated Assault and Kidnapping.
