Rideshare driver, teen injured in Indianapolis shooting

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – A rideshare driver and a teenage passenger were injured in a shooting incident on the far east side of Indianapolis late Thursday evening. The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. at the Amber Woods Apartments near Mitthoeffer Road, shortly after the driver arrived to pick up two teenagers.

According to police reports, the driver was approached by two individuals who ordered him to exit the vehicle. In an attempt to evade the potential threat, the driver accelerated away from the scene. However, the suspects fired shots at the moving vehicle, striking both the driver and one of the teenage passengers, a girl.

Despite his injuries, the driver managed to drive to a nearby laundromat at 38th Street and Mitthoeffer Road, where he called for help. Emergency responders arrived promptly, and both victims were transported to a local hospital. Authorities reported that their conditions were stable.
