Greenville, North Carolina – A man is facing multiple charges following an attack on law enforcement officers that left three injured on Sunday, Feb. 4. The incident occurred when officers responded to a disturbance call at a residence off of Copper Beech Drive, where a man had reportedly punched a resident of the home before fleeing the scene.
The suspect, later identified as Robert Hobb Jr., had also been involved in an altercation with a delivery driver, leading to a violent encounter with law enforcement once he was located outside of his apartment. According to Greenville police, Hobb Jr. resisted arrest and even grabbed an officer’s throat, leading to a struggle and the use of physical force and tasers to subdue him.
During the altercation, Hobb Jr. was able to take and discharge one of the officer’s tasers, further escalating the situation. He was ultimately arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including felony assault and resisting a public officer.
Hobb Jr. was given an $86,000 bond and the three injured officers were transported to ECU Health Medical Center for further treatment. Fortunately, they are expected to recover from their injuries.
