Washington, DC – Two individuals tragically lost their lives, while five others were injured in a shooting that occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning near the White House, according to reports from local authorities. The incident took place at the intersection of 7th and P Street Northwest, close to the Kennedy Recreation Center.
During a press briefing, Metropolitan Police Executive Assistant Chief Jeffrey Carroll disclosed that all the victims were adults and had been transported to nearby hospitals for treatment. As of now, details regarding their conditions remain unknown, and no arrests have been made nor were any suspects named in connection with the shooting.
The motive behind the shooting and the identity of the shooter are still under investigation by law enforcement officials. Authorities have urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
In a separate event, a man was apprehended in connection with the killing of three individuals in Falls Township, Pennsylvania. The suspect, identified as Andre Gordon, allegedly carried out the attacks at two different locations before fleeing in a stolen vehicle towards New Jersey.
According to Bucks County District Attorney Jennifer Schorn, Gordon shot and killed his stepmother and younger sister at their residence before proceeding to another location where he shot a 25-year-old individual. Fortunately, some individuals present in these locations managed to escape harm.
The suspect was later arrested after carjacking a driver at gunpoint in Morrisville. Despite the violent nature of the events, no additional injuries were reported. Authorities are working diligently to gather more information and piece together the sequence of events leading up to these tragic incidents.
