Shooting Tragedy in Tulsa: Father Dead, Woman Injured as Son Suspected in Violent Incident

TULSA, Okla. — A shooting incident in South Tulsa has left one man dead and a woman injured, prompting an ongoing investigation by local authorities. The Tulsa Police Department received a 911 call around 7:30 p.m. Thursday, reporting that a woman had been shot in the back at an apartment complex in the 1400 block of 62nd Street.

When officers arrived, they discovered both victims inside the apartment. Despite their injuries, the male victim and the woman were conscious and able to communicate with responders. According to their statements, the shooter was identified as the adult son of the male victim. The victims provided the suspect’s name and clothing description, noting that he is homeless but often seen in the area of 61st and Peoria.

Witnesses at the scene reported seeing the suspect flee the apartment complex on foot. In response, police conducted an extensive search. A helicopter unit spotted the suspect hiding behind a fence in the 6300 block of South Peoria Avenue, leading to his arrest around 8 p.m. Officers also recovered a handgun in the vicinity where the suspect was located.

Tragically, the male victim succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital shortly after the shooting. Meanwhile, the woman is receiving medical treatment; however, her condition remains unclear at this time.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident but do not believe additional suspects were involved. The police have not yet released the names of the victims or the suspect pending further inquiries.
