MIDDLETOWN TWP., Pennsylvania – A shocking and horrifying crime has left the community of Middletown Township, Pennsylvania in disbelief. The son of a man found beheaded in their family home has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder and disturbing abuse of a corpse.
The victim, identified as 68-year-old Michael F. Mohn, was discovered by his wife at their home in Bucks County. The son, 32-year-old Justin Mohn, has been accused not only of committing the gruesome act, but also of sharing a disturbing video on YouTube.
According to police, the wife found her husband’s decapitated body covered in blood and immediately called the authorities. When officers arrived at the scene, they made the gruesome discovery of the victim’s body in the first-floor bathroom and his head inside a plastic bag in a kitchen pot placed in a first-floor bedroom. Additionally, they found bloody rubber gloves, a machete, and a large kitchen knife, all providing evidence of the heinous crime.
The suspect’s disturbing behavior continued with the posting of a more than 14-minute long YouTube video, in which he identified himself as a militia leader and denounced his father as a traitor to the country. In the video, he also made threats against federal agencies and railed against the government, leaving viewers shocked and disturbed. The video was viewed at least 5,000 times before it was finally taken down.
Officers were able to track down the suspect by pinging his cell phone to a location about 100 miles from the crime scene, eventually locating him at the Fort Indiantown Gap in Lebanon County. After eluding police, the suspect was found inside the installation with a firearm in his possession and was arrested without incident.
The neighborhood was understandably on edge, but with the suspect in custody, the community is now able to breathe a sigh of relief. The motive for the killing is still under investigation as the authorities work to bring justice to the family and the community affected by this tragic and incomprehensible act.
