Stabbing Tragedy: Mother Mourns 3-Year-Old Killed in Ohio Grocery Store Attack

North Olmsted, Ohio – A tragic incident has left a mother mourning the loss of her 3-year-old son after they were both victims of a random attack at a local grocery store. The suspect, Bionca Ellis, 32, has been arrested in connection to the crime, where 3-year-old Julian Wood lost his life.

Julian and his mother, Margot Wood, were both rushed to St. John’s Medical Center for treatment after the stabbing. Sadly, Julian succumbed to his injuries, while Margot survived with non-life-threatening injuries. Ellis has been charged with aggravated murder following a video arraignment from jail, with a bond set at $1 million.

The incident occurred in the parking lot of a Giant Eagle grocery store, where dispatch received multiple 911 calls about a Black woman in all black clothes attacking people. Surveillance footage showed Ellis obtaining a kitchen knife before following Margot and Julian out of the store and repeatedly stabbing them.

The motive behind the attack is still under investigation, but authorities believe it was a random act of violence. Mayor Nicole Dailey Jones of North Olmsted expressed her condolences to the family, acknowledging the profound grief felt by the community. She commended the rapid response of the safety forces and called for thoughts and prayers for the grieving family.

Despite Ellis being taken into custody without resistance, the tragic incident has left emotional trauma on Margot Wood, who is expected to make a full physical recovery but will carry the emotional scars for life. The police noted that Ellis had prior arrests but none for violent offenses before this devastating event. This senseless act of violence has deeply impacted the North Olmsted community, as they come together to mourn and seek healing.
